On the Passing of LHS Basketball Coach Darnell Parker
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Loveland High School girls basketball coach Darnell Parker. He died peacefully on Sunday, July 24. He was diagnosed with liver and colon cancer in 2020.
“Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. Darnell was an amazing person and demonstrated tremendous character and determination during his battle. His enthusiasm and optimism were contagious. He leaves a legacy of leadership and grace in our community,” Superintendent Mike Broadwater said.
Parker is survived by his children Alexis and Madison, and his wife, Samantha, who is expecting their first child.
Here are just a few of his accomplishments during his five seasons with Loveland:
- ECC Coach of the Year in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021
- Greater Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame Ohio Girls Co-Coach of the Year 2020-2021
- ECC Girls Basketball Champions in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021
- Overall record: 93 - 31
- 7 total 1st Team ECC selections and 8 total 2nd Team ECC selections
“Coach Darnell Parker always had the biggest smile, a positive outlook, and an infectious laugh. He loved his basketball family and he shined on the sidelines as their leader. We are all better people having been in his presence and felt his enthusiasm for life. We will miss you, Coach Parker. Forever, Go Tigers! Forever, Our Way!” Brian Conatser, former Loveland Athletic Director and current LHS Assistant Principal said.
