Message from our Superintendent

Dr. Amy Crouse
We hope you are adjusting to summer schedules with activities opening back up in different ways. I know that I’ve enjoyed being able to watch my own children begin to participate in the things they love to do.  It’s comforting to have a schedule to manage even if the activities are different from what they would have been during a normal summer.

In the school district, we continue to work on plans for the reopening of school. We are working on health and safety plans to make sure we are ready for the fall. This includes making sure we have adequate supplies for cleaning, that hand sanitizer is available outside every classroom door, and that we can provide the necessary social distancing in our classrooms and hallways. However, without the concrete guidance from the Ohio Department of Education or specific health guidelines, we continue to have more questions than answers about what it will have to look like when students and staff are back in attendance. We do know that you are anxious to understand our plans for the fall for your own planning at home. At this time, specific guidance is not expected until the end of June.

In the absence of details, we have continued to work on plans that could be adjusted based on the pending guidance. Using the feedback from the past surveys, teams of educators are planning for both in-person and online models. Our plan is to share a general overview of the models with families next Friday.

We know that consistency is important emotionally and academically for our students, as well as necessary for your own work and routine. Our preference for an in-person option is five days a week for a full day, if we can do that safely. However, at this time there is indication that social distancing requirements will be part of the forthcoming guidance and such restrictions will impact the ability to offer the traditional model of school.

We will continue to provide updates regularly. I am grateful for your patience as we continue to work through this process.

In Service to our Tigers,
Dr. Amy Crouse, Superintendent
