The Quality that makes Loveland so unique

I brought her flowers. I thought it was the least I could do.
When I asked longtime resident Kathryn Undercoffer to present last year at Opening Day for our Tiger Staff – I wasn’t convinced she would say yes. The former Loveland City School District teacher was about to celebrate her 99th birthday, and I wasn’t sure she would have time to join us for the annual ceremony. (This was one year ago – and, I was on the guest list for her 100th celebration this year – it was a blast!)
Not only did she make the time to speak – her words about the experience of teaching decades ago brought the house down. She was a hit!
In today’s world – especially in education – it seems it’s always a conversation of what’s next… and how quickly can we get there. So, some might find it unconventional that for Opening Day 2014-15 I wanted to pause and take a look back. Share some stories and some laughs from the past before we lunged forward into the new school year. But, that is exactly what makes our school district so unique: tradition, pride, quality.
For both the Loveland City School District, and the community in which we reside – these are key threads that are woven into the fabric of who we are and what it means to be a Tiger.
In the publication of our third annual Quality Profile – I present to you a snapshot of the story of our district as captured during the 2014-15 school year. Our portfolio is overflowing with examples of student growth – both academic and social. We are a progressive, vibrant learning institution that focuses on academics, arts and athletics, centered in the heart of a supportive, encouraging community.
A community full of people like Mrs. Undercoffer, who was, and forever will be, a member of our Tiger Family. Whether you are new to the district, or if you grew up here, once you’ve spent time in Loveland you will understand what we mean when we say: We are many stripes; we are one Tiger.
Our mission is to prepare our students for tomorrow, today. Our journey is together, reflecting on our past as we prepare for our future – all with a few laughs in between.
Dedicated to the future of our students,
