Granny's Garden School Newsletter
Posted Friday, September 5, 2014
We are starting a new initiative at Granny’s Garden School this year: Harvest for the Hungry. We planted extra in the gardens and have produce to share.
During the month of September, we are inviting the school community and neighbors to join us as we harvest for the hungry in the Loveland School Gardens.
Two ways you can get involved:
Sign up to Help Harvest
Harvesters register to spend an hour or two to help pick produce i.e. green beans and cherry tomatoes as they ripen on the vine during the early part of the month. This accomplishes two things: fresh produce for hungry people and it keeps the plants producing.
Become a Harvest Sponsor
Harvest sponsors make a pledge to donate a certain amount for each pound of food we harvest for the hungry during the month of September. The food goes to local food pantries and soup kitchens and the donations go to support the school garden program.
Anyone in the Greater Cincinnati is welcome to sign up to be a harvester/sponsor. It is a great opportunity to provide a harvesting experience to children who do not have access to a school or home garden.
