The Reason for the Season
Posted Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Hope, joy, and celebration – these are the typical thoughts we associate with the holidays. But it is important to remember that it can also be a very stressful time for many in our Tiger Family. The holiday season can put the spotlight on thin budgets and difficult family situations… it may not sound like the storyline for this year’s Hallmark movie, but it is the reality many of our families navigate.
It is in this setting that we ask our teachers, aides, bus drivers, secretaries, custodians and lunch staff to stay focused to their commitment to really be present for every student – which is at the heart of all that we do all year long. It is a caring, nurturing learning environment we strive to cultivate for the students we serve – despite the calendar full of social responsibilities and never ending to-do lists that seem to arrive every year with the holiday season.
At the Loveland City School District, this time of year provides us an opportunity to remember what is truly important. Giving our best – in the classroom, parent meeting, bus garage or cafeteria. It is critical; we want to be well-rounded examples. This year, let us all take time to reflect on the gifts that we have and cherish the time that we spend with those around us. Let us not take for granted the opportunity to serve others; in our school environment, it is the true reason for the season.
