LHS welcomes new Lacrosse coaches
Posted Tuesday, February 14, 2017
As the Ohio High School Athletic Association embarks on the 2017 spring sports season being the first year with our men's and women's lacrosse (LAX) teams being recognized as sanctioned sports, the Loveland City School District, Loveland High School (LHS), the Loveland Athletic Department and Loveland Athletic Boosters are also proud to have adopted both programs as official varsity sports. We are also thankful to our Loveland Education Association for their work on adding the coaching positions needed for both of our Men's and Women's LAX programs. Finally, a special thanks to the Loveland Lacrosse Board and Club for supporting the high school teams for so many years. Our high school teams could simply not have succeeded without both the financial and technical support provided by the Loveland LAX Club.
We are happy to announce Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Loveland Board of Education officially approved Steve Rice as men's LAX head coach and Ryan Hanson as women's LAX head coach. Coach Rice and Coach Hanson will lead our Loveland High School teams in year one of lacrosse within the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
Coach Steve Rice played lacrosse growing up in New York, and then college lacrosse at the University of Dayton. He has many years of lacrosse coaching experience at the club, middle school and high school levels. Coach Rice's high-school level coaching experience includes being the offensive coordinator for the Mason High School varsity team from 2010 to 2015, which included reaching the DI Final Four three of the five seasons.
Coach Ryan Hanson played high school lacrosse at Moeller for four years as well as being a 4-year member of the Ohio University Men's LAX team. His coaching experience includes girls LAX with the Loveland LAX Club and the Lakota East LAX Club, both at the varsity and junior varsity high school levels. Coach Hanson also runs and coaches many lacrosse summer camps and skill workshops.
Thanks to our Loveland community for the continued support of our lacrosse programs as well as all of the support for our teams and student-athletes.
