LMS Career Day

The clothes the students wore were not typical of a school day; the smiles across their faces might have been the best accessory. Thursday, May 22, the mood was excited in the Loveland Middle School (LMS) Auditorium as students took a seat to hear a presentation on business by Loveland Board of Education Member Dave Blumberg, who also works as a vice president for American Empire Surplus Lines Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Great American Insurance. The presentation was the grand finale of the LMS Career Day experience.
“You could definitely sense the excitement amongst the students, and we were all thrilled to have Mr. Blumberg come speak about career expectations,” said Tom Sutton, LMS teacher. “We are grateful to all of our volunteer professionals who spent time with the students; this has been a valuable learning experience.”
It was all business earlier in the day at the LMS Media Center, which was transformed into an “office” to conduct mock interviews. Eighth grade students were paired with the volunteers for question and answer sessions.
“The students will receive authentic feedback from the sessions,” said Sutton. “This will help them continue to grow and develop in areas they will need in the very near future, as they apply for their first jobs and scholarships.”
