The quilt was full of color; the design showcased book covers that were her favorite. Tuesday, May 20, the cloth art hung in the center of a memorial dedication to Carol Simons – Loveland Middle School retired media specialist (2007) who passed away March 22, 2013. In front of the quilt being donated to the school, along with a case of books also being donated to the Loveland City School District in her honor, Loveland Superintendent Chad Hilliker praised Simons for her dedication to students.
“She loved the students,” said Hilliker. “It was clear that this media center was very much like her home, and we were her extended family. We are forever grateful for her dedication to our district. People like Carol only come around once in a while.”
The quilt and books, along with a plaque will continue to call the Loveland Intermediate/Middle School Media Center home. The family of Carol Simons was on hand for the ceremony, and thanked the Loveland Board of Education for the opportunity to remember the wife, mother and grandmother.
