Fire safety 101
Posted Monday, October 19, 2015
Sitting in front of his class, Loveland Primary School (LPS) student Phillip Rider was a model firefighter, literally. The first grader was nearly hidden in layers of firefighting equipment, as he demonstrated the uniform firefighters wear when working. The Loveland Fire Department made the class possible, volunteering their time Tuesday, Oct. 6, to present a lesson in fire safety.
“This is exactly the type of community interaction our students can benefit tremendously from,” said LPS Principal Kevin Fancher. “It is powerful for students like Phillip to be in the presence of professionals who they look up to, and get to hear such an important safety message. We are grateful to the firefighters for making this class happen.”
In addition to the uniform, students also had the opportunity to see a fire truck up close.
