Strategic Vision

  • April 22, 2022

Loveland City School District continues to work on a Strategic Vision, which will include shared goals for our students and our district, along with action steps to get us there. The Strategic Vision is our effort to build cooperation and trust with our parents, students, staff, and community members as we all work together for the success of Loveland City Schools. The Strategic Vision will be an important tool for accountability and serve as a reference point for our district leadership, teachers and staff.

There have been two meetings of our Strategic Vision Design Team, which is made up of about 130 community members, students, parents, and staff. During the first meeting, they conducted an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing the district. The SWOT analysis results were shared by Superintendent Mike Broadwater during this week’s Board Meeting (that presentation can be reviewed under “Important Documents” on this page).

Thanks to the feedback, our Strategic Vision work is focused on four areas: Student Success, Community Engagement, Culture, and Facilities/Finance. Strategic Vision Design Team members shared ideas for goals and success measures in each of those areas during their second meeting.

We want our community to attend two important meetings in the coming weeks. First, a community input session on Monday, May 16 at 6 pm in the cafeteria at Loveland Middle School. This will be your opportunity to review the first draft of the Strategic Vision and provide feedback. The second is Strategic Vision Launch Night on Monday, June 6, at 5 pm in the Loveland Middle School Cafeteria. The final draft of the Strategic Vision will be unveiled during that meeting, and our Board of Education will be asked to formally adopt the Vision during a special meeting at 6 pm that evening.

We will continue to keep you updated as the process moves forward.

    March 7, 2022

People who attended our Community Input Session on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, responded to a series of open-ended questions about Loveland City Schools during four roundtable discussions.

We used a tool called Mentimeter to help prompt discussion because Mentimeter allows the responses to be shared as they come in. You can review the Mentimeter responses under “Important Links” on this page. There is one form for each topic discussed.
Portrait of a Tiger Mentimeter Results
Barriers to Student Success Mentimeter Results
    Real-World Applications Mentimeter Results
    More of/Less of Mentimeter Results

Those same questions were posed in a Google Form which was open through March 4, 2022, for responses. You can view the responses by following this link. They are also under “Important Links” on this page.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback. These results will be shared with our Strategic Vision Design Team.

    March 4, 2022 Update

Loveland City School District is announcing the members of our Strategic Vision Design Team.

More than 130 parents, students, staff members, and community members have volunteered to meet several times over the next few months to have constructive, student-focused conversations and craft a Strategic Vision for Loveland City School District. The goal is to create a shared vision for the future of our Loveland students, along with an action plan to help carry out that vision.

We think it is important to include as many people as possible, and we are happy to announce that everyone who volunteered to be part of the team has been selected

Mark your calendar for May 16, 2022, when we will hold another community input session at 6:00 pm in the LIS/LMS cafeteria to discuss a draft of our Strategic Vision document and get feedback from our community.

Thank you to the Strategic Vision Design Team Members for volunteering your time to help our Loveland students.

    February 24, 2022 Update

We are gathering community input as part of our Strategic Vision process.

On February 9, 2022, we held community input sessions to discuss our Portrait of a Tiger. The Portrait of a Tiger is a list of aspirations for our students, created with community input in 2018 and 2019. We gathered more than 500 responses to a survey about the Portrait of a Tiger. Those survey responses can be found on this page under “Important Links” or by following this link

We’ve rewritten those aspirations to incorporate community feedback, streamlining the document with simpler language. You can review the Draft of our revised “Portrait” by following this link.

On February 23, 2022, we held a second community input session to discuss the revised “Portrait” and allow for more open-ended discussion. A survey with more open-ended questions was also released, and will remain open until March 4, 2022 for additional feedback. You can find that survey under “Important Links” on this page, or by following this link. Results will be released after the survey is closed. During that session, we shared a document titled “Portrait of a Tiger Examples” to give people an idea of how the existing Portrait of a Tiger is implemented in our buildings. You can review the “Portrait of a Tiger Examples” document by following this link

We also shared copies of our 2021-2022 Quality Profile, which can be found by following this link

We are assembling a Strategic Vision Design Team, made up of parents, students, staff, and other community members who will work to create a draft Strategic Vision over the next few months. The Portrait of a Loveland Graduate, along with the results of the two surveys will be shared with the Strategic Vision Design Team to help inform their work. This team of approximately 100 people will have discussions to help turn the concerns and desires of our community stakeholders into a strategic vision for the district, and an action plan. When the Strategic Vision Design Team is finalized, a list of the members can be found on this page under “Important Links.”

Once a draft Strategic Vision is created, we will hold another community meeting to gather feedback. Community Meeting #3 is tentatively scheduled for 6 pm on May 18, 2022 in the Loveland Intermediate School/Loveland Middle School Cafeteria.

Please return to this page in the weeks and months ahead to stay up to date on this process.

    Thank you!

2022 will be a pivotal year for Loveland City Schools. We are launching a strategic vision process to determine the future of the district, and we want you to be involved. I want to hear from all of our stakeholders in regards to the priorities they have for the education of our most valuable asset: Our kids!

The strategic vision process will gather input from across our Loveland City Schools community of parents, students, staff members, and anyone who lives within our district boundaries. We will be working to hear as many voices as possible and come up with a set of future goals for Loveland City Schools. When we have a shared vision of what it means for our students to be successful, we can work together to help our students achieve those goals.

A series of community meetings will be announced soon, and if you can’t attend a meeting, we will be using other tools to give you a chance to make your thoughts known. The work that went into building our Portrait of a Tiger will be used as a starting point for this discussion, and we will grow our vision from there. I encourage you to get involved and help us in this important mission.

Community Input Sessions will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 5:30 and 6:30 pm at Loveland High School during our Showcase Night. A second Community Input Session will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 6:00 pm at Loveland Middle School.

Our Portrait of a Tiger was created with community input during a series of meetings in 2019. This is our vision for what our students will get from a Loveland City School education beyond academic excellence. This will form the basis of our strategic vision.

Return to this page in the coming weeks to see the latest as we begin this journey together.

Gathering Feedback:

  • During our Strategic Vision process, we will be collecting community input.

Community Input Meeting #1 Survey was open from February 9, 2022 - February 22, 2022, so community members can give feedback on our "Portrait of a Tiger." Results are under "Important Links"

Community Input Survey #2 will be open from February 23, 2022 - March 4, 2022, so community members can give open-ended feedback on a variety of topics.

Community Input Meeting #3 will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, in the Loveland Middle School Cafeteria.
