Home Schooling
Home schooling is education primarily directed and provided by the parent or guardian of a child who has been excused from compulsory school attendance. Ohio Revised Code ORC 3321.042 details the regulations regarding home education.
You must submit a Home School Notification Letter to Loveland City School District within five days of deciding to home school your student. You can complete that process online by following this link to fill out the Home School Notification Google Form. Completing that form will serve as notification to the District of your intent to Home School, and you will receive an immediate Acknowledgement Receipt. The Acknowledgement Receipt can be printed and saved for your records.
Parents and guardians who complete the Home School Notification Letter via our Google Form are withdrawing their students from Loveland City School District. Once the student’s withdrawal has been processed, a new enrollment must be completed before the student can return to the Loveland City School District.
If you need any help with the form, please email Kim Dippold at dippolki@lovelandschools.org or call 513- 774-6220.
Education Disability
If your home schooled child has an educational disability and has an Evaluation Team Report (ETR), you are required to complete an additional form to ensure your student’s special education documents stay in compliance. Follow this link to complete our Home School and Educational Disabilities Google Form.
All ETRs must be completed every three years, and completing the form will ensure that the District keeps your student’s special education records up to date. Additionally, Ohio Administrative Code Rule 3301-51-03 Child Find requires districts to identify all students residing within that district who have disabilities.
Home Schooling VS. Virtual/Online Learning
Home schooling is NOT Virtual or Online learning. Parents and guardians who choose to home school their students assume complete responsibility for determining, designing, and delivering educational instruction to their students. This includes choosing educational materials, delivery format, start and stop times for the school day, etc. Virtual or Online learning programs are structured learning environments designed and delivered by accredited educational institutions and certificated teachers.
If you are enrolling your student in a virtual or online school, you should not complete any Home School Forms.
