Loveland High School hosts Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Loveland High School (LHS) invites the entire Tiger Family to the formal induction ceremony for the Class of 2016 Athletic Hall of Fame that will take place at the LHS Gymnasium Friday, Jan. 13, at halftime of the Tiger varsity basketball game vs. Glen Este.
Members to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame include: Ron Ogden, LHS Class of 1966; Shawn Richardson, LHS Class of 1989; Kevin Taylor, LHS Class of 1972; and, Samantha Wheeler, LHS Class of 2010.
A reception will follow the game in the LHS Media Center.
Below you will find a brief biography on each member being inducted.
Ron Ogden graduated from Loveland High School in 1966. During his tenure as a student-athlete Ogden served as the captain of the varsity football team and was selected as an All-Star varsity basketball player and baseball player receiving numerous awards in each sport. Mr. Ogden continued his athletic career at Wilmington playing both football and baseball.
Shawn Richardson graduated from Loveland High School in 1989. During his tenure as a student-athlete Richardson participated in soccer, basketball, wresting and football, playing on the first-ever playoff team in 1986. He was selected as part of the Cincinnati Post All Metro Team along with being named a participant in the Ohio All Star Game. He continued his athletic career playing baseball for Motlow.
Kevin Taylor graduated from Loveland High School in 1972 and has served the students in the district as a teacher and coach the past 30 years. Taylor served as the Loveland High School assistant athletic director (1995-2013) and currently serves as the Loveland High School
facilities manager. He is the founder and chairman of the present Athletic Hall of Fame.
Samantha Wheeler graduated from Loveland High School in 2010. During her tenure as a student-athlete she was named Most Valuable Swimmer, and qualified for state, receiving numerous awards and accolades recognizing her accomplishments in that sport, which included being named FAVC Athlete of the Year in 2009, All Ohio Award 2009 by Swimming Coaches Association, Community Press Sportsman of the Year 2008-2009, and receiving the Edward Jones Award 2007-2008. She continued her athletic career swimming for the University of Cincinnati.
