Eighth grade class, meet Washington, D.C.
Eighth grade class, meet Washington, D.C.All of the big monuments and memorials were thoroughly explored by 213 Loveland Middle School eighth grade students May 14-18, as the class took their annual trip to Washington, D.C. Along with the extensive tour, the students did a meet and greet at the Capitol Building with Ohio U.S. Senator Rob Portman. For the students, it brought American history textbook lessons to life.

"D.C. was a learning experience that didn't feel like one,” said LMS Student Jessica Griffiths. “We learned so much about our nation's capital from the tour guides – who were great – and we had fun doing it. I think the field trip was a great idea, and one that should be continued."

"This trip has become an important part of the eighth graders' experience; for most, it's the highlight of their year,” said Katie Rose, LMS teacher and trip organizer. “They have an opportunity to see history and government in action while making lifelong memories with their teacher chaperones and classmates. It brings the eighth grade history curriculum to life, and that's the goal."
