Hero of Character
Hero of Character Loveland High School (LHS) salutes Sophomore Olivia Henderson, who received a Hero of Character Award from the Character Council of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Wednesday, May 14, at the Marriott North in West Chester. Henderson was one of six young adult recipients, with seven adult recipients also honored in front of an audience of 250 people.

Basketball Junior Varsity (JV) Head Coach Greg Croskey nominated Henderson for the award, writing in his nomination letter:
As captain of the JV basketball team, Olivia was responsible for directing the team through drills/warm ups and reviewing scouting reports, while leading the team on the court as well as from the bench. Finding ways to contribute to the individual success of her teammates, as well as to the team as a whole, was second nature to her.

‘Olive’ had a season ending injury early in the season. This type of injury would devastate many young athletes. Not Olive. She demonstrated exceptional patience and endurance, affording her team the opportunity to watch their leader accept a difficult situation and find the inner strength to carry on. To paraphrase Olive, “I know I can’t lead on the court anymore, but that doesn’t mean I am going to stop being a leader on the bench, in the locker room or off the court.”

Congratulations, Olivia Henderson!
