minerals are formed and/or classified. |
1. Describe the rock cycle and
explain that there are sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks that have
distinct properties (e.g., color, texture, hardness, streak, luster) and are
formed in different ways. 2. Explain that rocks are made of
one or more minerals. 3. Categorize minerals by their
characteristic properties and determine that their formation dictates their
characteristics (e.g., weathering leads to the formation of sedimentary
rocks). |
