This online learning tool helps you learn about place value. You can move, break, and combine virtual models of ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands, while the value of the entire number is being written out in three different forms.

This online manipulative allows the user to move chips between the 1's, 10's and 100's place, seeing the quantities split or combine as needed.

Virtual Base Blocks - Adding and Subtracting Decimals

This online virtual manipulative lets the student use base blocks to add and subtract decimals, by splitting and combining blocks. This is also a great way to visualize the concepts of decimal place value.

This web site has 18 lessons on place value from basic to advanced. Each lesson has an explanation and an activity for the student to try.

Partitioning Numbers

This is a simple representational game. It shows shapes in groups of tens and ones. The students choose the number that represents thetotal of the groups. It is easy for students to use independently and attractive so they will want to use it.

Funschool Falling Leaves

This is a game of catching falling leaves in a basket. The scoring of the game involves collecting single leaves until you have ten anf then they are moved into the tens column. If you miss leaves, numbers are subtracted. This demonstrates making tens and taking them apart. This is a simple game students can do independently.
