Established in 2000, the Loveland Schools Foundation is a not for profit organization established to support the academic programs, services and capital improvement projects of the Loveland City School District. Through a broad-based membership of parents, citizens of the Loveland community, businesses and alumni, the Foundation is able to support classroom projects, provide for field trips, classroom speakers, cultural events, and scholarships for graduating seniors.
MINI GRANT PROGRAM
Since 2001, the Foundation has offered mini grants to the faculty and administrators of the district. At a designated time during each school year, applications are accepted for funding for creative projects which cannot be funded through regular channels of school finance. Selections are made on the innovative ideas of the teacher to create a superior learning environment and can be awarded for new equipment, supplies, outside speakers, conferences, seminars, or other expenses the teacher might incur to reach his/her stated goal.
Scholarship money is presented each year to graduating high school seniors at the Senior Awards Night Program in May. These scholarships are given to seniors to implement high education at an accredited university or college who, in addition to a strong academic background, have participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities and community service projects, and have shown a strong work ethic.
While the Foundation recognizes that a strong academic background is conducive to success in a higher education program, members of the Board of Trustees also recognize the needs of students attending a two year college program and technical schools. Therefore, students interested in furthering their education in any capacity beyond high school are encouraged to apply for one of the Foundation scholarships which does not specify a particular major.. For all scholarships, when all criteria have been met and are equal, financial need is the determining factor.
Students should check with the guidance department at the high school beginning in mid to late February for the posting of Foundation scholarships which will be given that year.
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS
Loveland Schools Foundation has established a Distinguished Alumni Award to honor Loveland graduates who have used their Loveland High School education to significantly contribute to their vocation, and or their community, whether local, national or global, to in some way enhance the lives of others. Graduates from all professions are considered – business, education, the military, entertainment, the arts, etc. Each year, a maximum of five graduates will be selected to receive this award which will be presented in the fall.
In addition to recognizing the graduates, a major objective of the program is to make current Loveland students, employees and the entire community aware that the Loveland School System produces outstanding graduates who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their professional and personal lives.
Please check for a Distinguished Alumni Nomination Form under RESOURCE LINKS above or call the Foundation office at 513-774-6228 for additional information.
Thanks to two very generous contributions, the Foundation has been able to fulfill a long-time goal, the establishment of the Endowment Fund. Interest generated from this account will ensure a legacy to support projects for the Loveland City School District for future generations
